YOU Pick!

We are currently in an election season and many are focusing on the “topics” that are most important to voters as we seek to elect a new president. Over the centuries the church has often found itself in conflict with popular culture on certain issues. Starting November 9th we will have a conversation about some of these issues. We invite you to post the issue that you would like to talk about. We will collect these issues through October and select the top three and explore what the Bible has to say on these issues. We will also be setting up a “You Pick” polling table at the Ped Mall(volunteers needed!)

I would like to see what Jesus/Bible would say about our foreign policy concerning the way we have taken an approach to the global war on terror.

Great topic Ben! I will have to dig out some of my ethics books by Yoder and research the topic. Looking forward to it. If in case this one doesn't make the top of the list then it would be a good topic to discuss over coffee or maybe in a small group.

Social Justice. I know it's a broad category, I guess I'm mostly interested in the health-care aspect . . . healing the sick etc. After all (excuse my paraphrasing) Jesus did come to teach, preach and heal. :) Just a thought.

King David was an adulteress and a murderer. Noah got caught up in drunkenness. Neither of these two would have fared well under campaigning scrutiny or our candidate selection process, and yet God used them to accomplish much for his purposes. I'd like to see discussion that also explores a more fundamental issue than "topics," and examine how the underlying character of a candidate factors into choosing the best qualified person to lead.
